My nephew's (by marriage) birthday is in a week and I wanted to make a card for him. He's almost as old as I am (we went to school together, weird huh??) and of course I could not use something kiddish, and he's cowboy up! all the way ~ so of course this set was perfect!!!
I used the split negative technique from SCS. If you have not tried it, you must! It is so simple and easy.
Anyway, I stamped the image twice. Once with Really Rust ink on the Creamy Caramel CS and once with Ruby Red ink on the More Mustard CS. Then I "split" them in half and used one half for each side, thus making 2 cards....
I layered that panel on to Chocolate Chip CS. I then stamped the star and horseshoe and the sentiment Best Wishes (from Stampendous!) in Close to Cocoa on Creamy Caramel CS. I layered that on to More Mustard CS and then on to Chocolate Chip CS. I then placed an eyelet on each side of the panel.
I then layered all that on to the panel of DP from the Au Chocolate series. I love that paper, and I wish that I would of ordered more! For some reason this paper reminded me of an old cowboy shirt so I had to use it! That is all layered on to a Really Rust card.
Hope you like it. And if you have not, try out the technique for the split negative, it's so easy!
These are such wonderful guy cards!!! Yes, that is the PERFECT guy set!!! These are such wonderful colors anf I love your choice of background DP!!! Really well done -- thanks!!!
ReplyDeleteHi Joani! Your card is fabulous! I can't even tell the panels are two different cardstock. Beatifully done. Your card is a wonderful masculine Birthday card. Your nephew will surely appreciate it!
