Time well spent with a friend

I needed to make a card the other day for a new stampin' buddy that came over and stamped with me last week. When she came by she stayed for a while, we all had lunch and played with her new alcohol inks. It was such a nice day. Well when she was here not only did she give me 3 cards that she made, but she also gave me a cute little pail and a MFT stamp set! Hell-o!! That was so nice. And no, I don't have any - I know **GASP** - MFT stamps so this was my first. I will post a picture later of everything. But it was so kind of her. As we were sitting in my craft room we were chatting away about different things. I mentioned to her that I had seen someplace (more than likely on SCS) that a lady made a ribbon holder out of PVC pipe and that I wanted to make one of those someday. I just did not want to buy the PVC pipe because most of it would go to waste. Ok, now you are all asking "huh? PVC pipe? How??" Well, of course the pipe you would need would have to be one of the larger ones, and you slice it down the center to make 2 - 1/2 sides, like you would a grapefruit. So you just drop your ribbon spools in there and they fit nicely. The waste? You have a 8 foot length (you can only buy the size you need to hold a ribbon spool in that length, well at least at our Lowe's) that would go to waste. Yes, I don't have THAT much ribbon. Anyway - back to the story. Her hubby is making it for her and she said that I could have the other half. When I offered to pay her she said no. She is one nice lady I'll tell you!! Who, oh yeah. I forgot that part! It's Betty - and you can check out her blog HERE.

Now, if your still with me ~ on to the card :0)

I used the set Time Well Spent. I just love that set! The base card is Old Olive. I layered it with some DP that I received from a RAK. Then I made another 2 1/2" piece of Purely Pomegranate, Old Olive and another piece of the DP and tied the ribbon around it. I had water colored the flowers and layered them on to the card, some with pop dots for the 3D effect and gave it some sparkle with stickles. I then used the word Friend from For a Friend and stamped that in Rose Red on to a piece of white cs. Above that I stamped "thanks so much" from my Michael's $1.00 stamps in Positively Pink ink. I sponged some Rose Red around that and layered it on to some Old Olive and Purely Pomegranate cs. I also added some stickles to the dots under the word friend for a pop!

I sure hope that she likes it!! It's one of my favorite sets. Come back tomorrow to see what she gave me - and a chance to see what I will be giving away for my very 1st blog candy!!!

A good egg & the chocolate bunny!

One more Easter card, that's it. I promise!

I needed a couple more cards and popped these out real quick. I was trying to think of what I'd put in an Easter basket for this card. When I met my ex-hubby he had 2 little ones. Easter came around and he wanted to go "buy" an Easter basket! **Gasp!!** Are you kidding me I said to him, no we make it! My parents always made up my basket, they never bought one! So, of course that's what I've always done. Buy the basket and all the goodies then put it together the night before for the kids to wake up to in the morning. Even to this day my DD will be almost 16 and she still get's a basket and DH and Mom get a chocolate bunny!! That's how it's done!

Ok, enough babble. I get side tracked so easy. I was saying "what do you put in a basket?" Well, of course the eggs, a chocolate bunny & those jelly beans in the bags that look like carrots!

I stamped my egg from A good Egg in Pink Passion and filled it in with Gable Green and Yo Yo Yellow then sponged around the image with Pink Passion ink. I stamped the bunny from Whipper Snapper and colored him in with pencils. I put some pink fun flock on his ears and tail for fun and sponged Close to Cocoa ink around that panel. I colored the carrot image, also from Whipper Snapper direct to the rubber with Gable Green and Only Orange. I layered the egg and bunny on a piece of yellow orange paper, same as the base card and the carrot on Pink Passion paper. Those were adhered to a piece of green polka dot paper. I finished with some stickles on the egg for a *punch* of color and I was done.

Tomorrow I've got more to show, and I promise it is not holiday related!! Have a great day!!

Birthday MooMoo!?

Now who does not enjoy a little floral Moo-Moo? This set just kills me! And yes of course I have a bent and twisted since of humor ~ but I can only make this for friends that I know really well.

A very dear and special friend (who I hope is not reading this) is having a birthday next week and I needed to make a card for her. She knows better than anyone how twisted I am, so she will like it I'm sure!

The main card is Pink Passion. I stamped the image from the Birthday Banter set and colored it with pencils. I used my SU markers for the flowers though. I sponged Green Galore ink around the panel and layered that on to a piece of Pink Passion cs. I also stamped the saying in Pink Passion ink and layered that on to a piece of Pink Passion cs after I sponged Pink Passion ink all over that panel.

The DP layered on the card is from Creative Imaginations. I thought that the flowers on the DP went well with the flowers on the cow. I layed down 1 piece of that and tied a purple length of ribbon around the 2nd panel before adhering. I adhered the main images and made a photo corner with the scraps, added a button and some stickles and I was done! Then it was off to mail it went!

More cards to come tomorrow!!

OH and guess what? I'm finally taking the plunge ~ I'm becoming a demo for The Angel Company. I am waiting til the 1st to sign up, if I do then I will be getting another $50.00 in stamps of my choice! I'm so excited, it's something that I've always wanted to do but never did. Now I am taking the plunge! Wish me luck everyone!!

One Cool Cat

Well, I was not sure if I should be posting this or not today ~ but what the heck!
I wanted to make a birthday card for a special girl who's turning 12 this weekend and I wanted something kinda girly so I had to pull out this set. My DD got this set when she was about that age so I thought that it had to work. And yes, if you notice I did not use pencils. I'm so proud of me!
The set is called Cool Cat and I colored it with my SU markers directly on the rubber. I used my stamp-a-ma-jig to make sure that everything would work out just right. Of course I had to go to my LSS and buy some paper for the occasion too, I mean I could not use any paper that was just laying around you know. The paper is from Creative Imaginations, and I just loved the colors.
I started with a Gable Green card and I layered on the DP to the base. The next piece I sponged Pink Passion ink around it first then tied a length of white ribbon around it. I took the main image and lightly sponged Pink Passion in around that then layered it on to a piece of Pixie Pink cs then on to another piece of Gable Green cs. I then stamped the word birthday from the Happy Everything set in Pink Passion ink and punched it out with my tab punch and adhered it to the top right corner behind the image panel. I layered that whole panel on to the card with pop dots for some dimension.
I made some photo corners with the scraps and placed those on to the card. On top of the photo corners I glued a couple of buttons to give it some more umph. Once I finished I added some stickles for a bit of a punch ~ what young girl does not like glitter? Heck, what older girl does not like glitter!!
And now it's in the mail! I hope she likes it ~ I hope you all like it!!

More warm bunny hugs

What do you think of when you think of Easter? My first thought is that darn chocolate bunny!!

I thought that it would be a cute idea to color him like a chocolate rabbit. But I don't think that there are any chocolate rabbits with pink fuzzy ears?!

This card was another quick and simple one. I stamped the image from Whipper Snapper and colored him with pencils and gamsol. I then layered that on to So Saffron and Pretty in Pink papers.

The main base card is Purely Pomegranate. On there I layered So Saffron and a piece of DP that I bought long ago with no tag on it. Before I adhered that down I cut a length of ribbon and tied it. I stamped the basket from the Bunny Hugs set and cut it out and used a pop dot to place it in front of the bunny. I also stamped the saying from the Bunny Hugs set in So Saffron ink and layered that with a piece of Pretty in Pink paper. I then put some fun flock on his ears to make them fuzzy. It was a simple and quick card.

This card was also a quick one. I tend not to make quick cards. I sit there and think of what to do, then I get side tracked. I start to clean up an area or go looking thru a drawer for something and end up cleaning out the drawer. And when I need to make a bunch of cards this does not help!!
The main base card is Mint Melody. The image is one that I've had for years, it's one of my first ~ it's from DOTS. I stamped the image and colored it in with pencils. I sponged so YoYo Yellow ink around the image and layered that on to a piece of Tempting Turquoise paper. I also layered a piece of DP from Designs by Reminisce on to the Turquoise. Before I adhered that piece I cut a length of yellow ribbon and tied it around that panel. I also used a couple of scraps of pink and purple that I had to tie also.
The little stamp "the end" I have also had for years, I place that on the back of each Easter card I make. That stamp I bought at Michael's years ago, it's by Stampcraft. I've tried to find them on line but couldn't ~ but I did find it on EBay and it's on sale til the 2nd of March if you'd like it. Just click here.
Well tomorrow I promise to show you something other than Easter or St. Patrick's day cards. And I think that you'll all be proud of me because I used something other than pencils to color with!! Have a great day!!

My new banner that I'm proud of!!

Ok, once again the wonderful Gabby of Confessions of a Stamper did it again!! She made me this awesome banner for my blog. Is there nothing that she can not do? She's the awesome-est. Take a peek at her blog and you'll see!

Thanks Gabby! Love ya!!!

Another Good Egg

Good morning everyone! Don't ya just love this set??

Another card down, many more to go!!!
This card I made using the set A Good Egg. I just love everything about this set!!

The base card is Chocolate Chip which I layered with Mint Melody and SP from The Paper Patch. I bought lots of that in California and have used it for years. I'm sorry I've tried to pull them up online and can't seem to find them!

I stamped the images and colored them with - yes, MARKERS. Can you beleive it? The little chick I stamped again on yellow and paper pieced him. I then sponged YoYo Yellow around the egg and Mint Melody around the chick. I layered them on to YoYo Yellow and Mint Melody papers. I took my gel pen and made the doodles around the two panels after I mounted them to the cards. I know that I am missing something in the top corner, but I've got to find a small Easter saying in my stash someplace.

And how are You doing on your Easter cards?

Friday, February 22, 2008

Yippie!! It works!!

I was so frustrated yesterday. I tried and tried but blogger would not let me post a picture! But today it worked!!!
I'm on a mission to make Easter cards. Now that I am done with St. Patrick's day cards I've got to get to hoppin' (get it, hoppin.... I kill me) and bust out the Easter cards.
This one I loved making. The colors are all fresh and spring-y. The bunny image is from Penny Black. I colored the image with my pencils and gamsol. I sponged around the image with YoYo Yellow and layered it on to a piece of So Saffron. I then stamped the saying from DOTS in Only Orange and sponged around that with Only Orange also. I layered that on to a piece of So Saffron. The carrot is from Embossing Arts. I stamped that and colored it in with pencils and layered that on to a piece of So Saffon.
For the card I used Pixie Pink. I used a DP from Stamping Station and another piece of So Saffron and mounted those to the card. I adhered the bunny image and the carrot to the card with my tape, but the sentiment was glued on with pop dots.
It's a fresh look. I don't know about you ~ but I was getting tired of looking at Christmas images and Valentines. With the ice outside I am looking forward to a nice spring day!!!

Arrgh!!

I've tried several times today to post a card and for some reason blogger will not let me post pictures. I don't even know if it will post this message.

Don't worry about us and the storm. We are actually fine. We are sitting put and not driving. Even though Mom had a doctor appointment today we cancelled it. The weather was fine but by the time I would of had to go pick up hubby from work it was awful! What normally takes about 10 to 15 minutes (depending on traffic) took him almost a 1/2 hour. The roads are so full of ice it's awful!!! There is lot's of accidents out there today. As a matter of fact Toyota shut the plant down for 2nd shift. I can't believe that! Of course Danielle is keeping her fingers crossed that she wont have school tomorrow ~ we'll see!!

I'm giving up for tonight ~ but I will try back tomorrow and try again. Keep safe and warm everyone!

Boatloads of cake??

Ooooh, wouldn't that sound yummy? Ok, this diet thing is driving me crazy!!

This card I made for a dear friend who's birthday is coming up. I wanted something different, and I think I did it. Who would ever think of a cake in a boat? Crazy me, that's for sure!!!

For this card I used my "special" paper from The Paper Palette. It's called Tsumugi paper. I have few sheet's left that I bought at a show when I lived in California. Oh, I can still get it on line (I buy my tape from them. The ONLY tape I use and will ever use) so I can still get it.

The base card is Royal purple and it's layered with Magenta and a piece of Dark Purple. I stamped the boats from Boatloads of Love and the cake is from Voila! I colored them in with my pencils and gamsol. I added some stickles to make it sparkle a bit. I then stamped the saying from Simple Sayings II in Lovely Lilac ink and I was done. Just in time, I have to get it to the mailbox today!!!

Boy what a day..........

I'm so behind on making my St. Patrick's day cards. Considering that Easter is just over a week away after that! So I went into mass production mode :)

The main image on this card is from Whipper Snapper. I stamped him and colored him with pencils and gamsol. I sponged the edges with Green Galore ink and mounted that on to a piece of Basic Black cs.

The card base is Green Galore. I too a piece of Basic Black and adhered a piece of BG paper from the Paper Patch. I then tied a length of green ribbon around it before I placed it on the card. The sentiment is from DOTS (yes, it's a very old stamp. One of my first) that I stamped in Green Galore and layered on to a piece of Basic Black also. I stamped the shamrocks over the top of it in Gable Green. That stamp is from a set by My Sentiments Exactly.

This card was inspired by SCS Koopdedoo. I saw her card, and with the twisted humor I have I HAD to make one!!!

The bra stamp is from Ann-ticipations. I've had it for a few years, and really don't remember why I bought it. But with my humor it does not suprise me!!

The main card is some green cs I have. I adhered a piece of dark green and then a piece of green plaid paper also from the Paper Patch. The image is colored in with pencils and gamsol. I added a little flower and brad to the center to add some "cute" to the card. The saying is from Whipper Snapper stamped in Green Galore. It is also layered on to a piece of dark green.

The saying Erin-go-Bra was generated on my computer and layered on to a piece of dark green also. You must go to SCS and check out Kathy's Gallery, I'm sure you'll enjoy it!!

This was a quick card. The base of the card is Old Olive. I cut a piece of dark green and layered a piece of the green polka dot paper to it, then tired the knot around it before adding it to the card. I then stamped the word "happy" above the panel with my stamp-a-ma-jig and the words St. Patrick's day below also with my stamp-a-ma-jig. I then placed the image on a piece of dark green ~ after coloring it with my pencils ~ and layered that to the card with pop dots.

Both saying and image are from Whipper Snapper.

I left these cards for last. I joined Gabby's swap on SCS (yes, my first and I'm nervous!!) Bra and Panties swap. Well, I needed to "practice" before I made the actual cards. I had already made hubby's card for Valentines, but it was a little more serious ~ so I thought that I'd make these for fun. Two birds, one stone-right?

Well, they are totally easy. Now, little story "behind" the panties. My DD likes to wear thongs. Yes, it's hard to say that your teenager likes that - it means that she's growing up. And another yes to hubby always saying NO when she wants them (but little does he know she gets them anyway). Well, of course being the teenager that she is teases me because she calls my undies "granny panties". No, let's get this straight first of all, they are not granny panties. I've got at least 20 (give or take a few) years before that sets in. But anything to my DD that is more than lets say a string is a granny panty. So, that brings me to the card. I had to make the panties a little more "realistic" let's say. I had originally wanted to stamp the "tattoo" a cool Harley Davidson emblem I have, but the darn panties were too big to stamp that image ~ so I went with the lips! ha ha ha.... The paper is from the EK Success Harley Davidson papers so I was 1/2 way there. And when you think of HD you think "tough" so I thought ok, this pattern will work. I then added the "elastic" which is Rick Rak I purchased at Walmart.

Well, I hope that you enjoyed today's LONG post. I hope to chat more tomorrow ~ see you then.

Happy RAK day to me, Happy RAK day to me...

As I mentioned before, I was in a PIF RAK with some other ladies. The original started by no one other than our dear Gabby.

This is just one of the packages that I received from Betty. Please take a look at her blog. And take a look at her SCS gallery, you'll love it!! All of these items were amazing. She does have a special talent. I feel so blessed to call her friend.
These items were sent to me by Cheryl. Also if you have a minute please visit her SCS gallery, it's awesome! She is also an amazing papercrafter. I just love that little mailbox. I don't live close to any Targets so I never make it there to buy these. And when I opened my package and saw this I was so excited. Of course my DD grabbed it, I told her to keep her mitts off :)
Thank you both for all the wonderful goodies. You both are truely kind.
Have a wonderful Valentines day!!

Valentine A-Pal-ooza!!

First of all I want to say to everyone ~ Happy Valentines Day!! Just givin' out mush deserved kisses to you all who take a peek at my blog! I've had over 5000 hits. Already! I am planning on giving out some blog candy in the very near future too!!! Thanks everyone! Muh-wa~

Now on to some business. I've got some last Valentine images to show you ~ then no more for a while... I just love Valentines though. A time to show all those people you love just a little more affection.

Why do I wait til the last minute to make cards for family? After all we live in the same house. Just yesterday I thought "Oh no! I have not made my Mom a card yet?" Thus, this card was born! Of course it was another excuse to make a card with my new favorite set. I just love this set!! The base card is Real Red. I then layered a piece of Pixie Pink on the card and a piece of DP from Cloud 9. My LSS carries a lot of papers from Cloud 9 and they are all yummy!

I then stamped the image from Happy Heart Day and watercolored it with my Aqua painter and pencils. I layered that image on to Pixie Pink. I wanted something else because it looked a little empty ~ so I stamped the tag image from the same set and watercolored that also. I used a heart eyelet at the top of the tag and threaded some ribbon scrap thru it. I adhered that to the card with a pop dot and I was finished.

And yes, I needed still another card. I had one for my daughters BFF's family, but she wanted to give it to her BFF ~ so yes, Mom get's to make another card!!

Yes, the set was out so I used it!!!

The base card is Real Red. I layered some swirl paper on to that. Yes, the swirl paper that has no name, it was sent to me in a RAK. Then I matted the red polka dot paper from Paper Salon (smitten collection ~they are yummy!!) on to a piece of Basic Black. I took a length of black organdy ribbon and tied it around the layers before I stuck it on the card.

I stamped the image twice. Once on white paper, then once on the heart paper. That paper is from Making Memories. I cut that image out and placed it over the elephant. I also cut the word friend out and a heart from the paper to make the one on his trunk bigger. I colored the flowers with my SU! markers and added stickles to it. I layered that image on to a piece of the Making Memories paper then on to Basic Black. I attached that to the card with pop dots. I then made the tag from the set and matted that on the Basic Black paper too. I added a heart eyelet with the black ribbon scrap and also used a pop dot to adhere to the card. I know that the card looks like the one above, but when I'm in a pinch it seems that I go back to the same recipie!!

And yes ~ one more card to make. The crucial one. The one for Hubby!! Now, he supports my paper crafting addiction. He knows that I love to make cards and alter things. He knows this all to well. When I see something that I MUST have, no matter where we are I've got to get it. He just stands there and shakes his head. I'm sure that he does not care if the card is made or heaven forbid ~ store bought. But the fact remains, I need to make the card. I keep all the cards I give family for holidays. So, let's just say I needed to make it for "my collection"....

For his card I used a mish-mash of stamps. I thought that it should be a little more "romantic" that the Happy Heart Day set. So, here goes...

The base card is Pretty in Pink.

I first stamped the BG stamp from Art Impressions with my Encore gold pad, on to Pixie Pink and mounted that to a piece of Basic Black. I then stamped the flourish from Judikins in Real Red over the BG image. Then added a length of black velvet ribbon down the left side. There is just something romantic about black velvet ribbon ~ at least I think that...

I then stamped 2 hearts from Hero Arts with my gold pad and cut them out and placed them on the card somewhat crooked. I then took the vellum saying from my DCWV paper slab and mounted that over another piece from that slab that is red roses and mounted that piece to another piece of Basic Black. I attached them all with the red heart brads and taped it down to the card. I think that it turned out well, don't you?

Now on to the main course!!! I've been a part of a PIF RAK with a couple of people. If you can remember back I showed you what my dear friend Gabby sent to me in her PIF RAK. Well, this is what I sent out in mine! I made 2 post it note holders, a magnet, a pen, a tape dispenser, a notebook and gigantic paper clip. And I bought a few goodies too. These are so much fun to do!!
Later today make sure to stop back by ~ I will be opening my PIF RAK packages I've received and will take pic's to show you!!!

Without you....

Good morning everyone! As I sit here looking out the window to about 5 inches of snow as the freezing rain is falling I'm thinking of spring. I'm actually a little excited because it is the 1st time since we moved out here that there is actual snow on the ground. It has snowed before, but so little that you could see the grass peeking thru ~ and there was not enough to make a snowman! I went to get the newspaper this morning and I would take a step and it was passed my ankles. That taught me not to wear my PJ's out there!! But the scary thing is the drivers. There were so many accidents this morning. If people would just take their time and leave a few minutes earlier they would not have to speed!

Anyway, on to the card.

I had to make a card for my group's swap "things that move you" and I thought of this cute little bicycle. It is a SU! image, but I received it in a lot of stamps from EBay that I won so I'm not sure what set it came from.

The base card is Pumpkin Pie. I colored directly on the stamp with my SU! markers then stamped the image onto white cs.

With the exception of the base card, the rest of the paper is from my Creating Keepsakes Power Pad slab that I bought from Big Lots! I so scored on that. Anyway, I used all the funky colors. I thought that it reminded me of spring. The sentiment is from Ann-ticipations. It says "Without you I'm one wheel short of a bicycle". I then added some Primas to the upper corner of the bicycle image. I always want to use those, but forget.

Well enough of my babble for today. I hope that you enjoy the card ~ and hope today finds you all well!!

Hoppy Easter

I just thought that I'd pop in while everyone is busy downstairs.

I made this card yesterday, it was a quickie! I had an Easter swap card that I had to make and I think this is it. Of course I've got to get to work on my St. Paddy's day and Easter cards to mail! It's closer thank I think!!

The base of this card is So Saffron. I then layered a piece of Summer Sun and then the green polka dotted paper. I for the life of me can not remember who makes all my polka dotted paper!

I stamped the image from CTMH and colored it in with pencils and gamsol ~ I then accented some of the flowers with my SU! markers. I layered that on to a piece of Pixie Pink. But before I did so I punched a line of scallops out with my slit punch from SU! and glued that under the white image panel that I sponged with Pink Passion ink.

I finished it off with a length of ribbon and I was done. I should be posting more tomorrow morning ~ hope to see you all then!

Been off for a bit....

So sorry that I've been off for a bit. I actually had things to do that did not require paper, ink and tape! I know *gasp!!*

I have a swap going on at my MSN site and it's for St. Patricks Day. Can you believe that it is only 39 days away ~ and Easter is 45 days away!!! It's actually going to be here before we know it! So I've started in on my St. Patricks day and Easter cards. With both holidays being just over a week apart, I need to get to work. On any given holiday I sent out at least 25 cards - not to mention the birthdays in between. Which reminds me, I've got a BIL I need to get a card in the mail for!!! Oooooh, I better get to work!

For this card I used the Darcies frame image. Darcie's was a big thing when I was on the west coast. They were at all the stamp shows, and you could hardly get to their booth there was so many people. My DD was one of them. She has quite a few of their images. And yes, this is another of her's that I used. So, I stamped it and colored it in with markers and pencils. (Got to get the pencils in there someplace!) I cut the center of the frame out and covered it with acetate to make the shaker.

The base card is Glorious Green. I covered it with Certainly Celery and added the DP from The Paper Patch on top. That paper I've had for years! When I saw it I bought most all they had.

After I added the shamrock confetti to the frame I covered that with a piece of DP from Paper Adventures. Yes, this I also "borrowed" from my DD. Once again years ago I bought her paper at the LSS. They had all different types of cereals on the paper, this one of course has the lucky charms. I then glued that to the card and I was done. Shaker cards are really quite easy to do, and I thought that this would be cute for St. Patricks Day!

For the love of chocolate

I just love to make chocolate cards. I love the paper & the stamps. They just make cute little cards.

This card was basically simple. Well, first I had to steal my DD's DP. She hoards it and she never makes cards anymore! So, I'll have to get this in the mail before she see's it!!!

The DP is from Frances Meyer. I know that she got it a long time ago at the LSS in California. I so miss that store! The card base is Chocolate Chip. I layered the DP on to the card and made another panel smaller to fit on the card ~ and layered that on to Pixie Pink and Chocolate Chip. The stamp is from Embossing Arts that I got some 10 years ago.

I stamped the images of chocolates on to a piece of beige CS and colored it in with pencils. I stamped the saying (it's all one stamp that I split) on beige CS also and layered those on to Pixie Pink and Chocolate Chip also. These were two quick and easy cards. I am thinking of putting some glitter on it someplace to make it stand out, but I'm not sure.

Hope you all have a great day!

Time well spent

Don't you just LOVE this set! The minute I first saw the cards being done with it I KNEW that I had to have it! There reallys is so much that you can do with it. Not to mention that it is perfect to watercolor! That's something that I have not done in a while because I'm always playing with my Gamsol!

This card I just love because of all the bright colors! It's been kind of dreary, glomy here lately. Actually yesterday was the first beautiful day we've had in a while! The sun was shining and it was nice enough out to just have on a sweatshirt. Well enough of that! On to the card.

The first card I used Old Olive for the card base. I layered on a piece of yellow polka dot paper (once again ~ I've had it for years and bought it at a show and cant remember who I bought it from!) I then stamped the flowers using a masking technique. I colored them in with my watercolor pencils and my aqua painter. When I use my aqua painter I found that the easiest way (and it's just the way I do it ~ there may be an easier way that you can find) is not to put the pencils to the paper, but to touch the aqua painter to the pencil then color with that. I do keep a paper towel close by to blot the paper if too much water gets on it. Once I was done with the flowers and butterfly I did the saying. I placed the flowers on the paper and layered the sentiment to a piece of Old Olive and Pink Passion paper. Once all the pieces were layered and aheared I used some stickles on the flowers and butterfly just to add some sparkle.

On this card I only used one of the flowers from Time Well Spent. I actually stamped it 3 times. The first time I stamped it and colored the outer edge of the flower. Then on the 2nd image I colored the inner part of the flower, and for the 3rd image I colored the center of the flower. I added a brad in the center of the flower.

I attached them all together with pop dots to give it a little more dimension.

I actually started this card backwards. I stamped, colored and cut the flower then I thought what to do with it?? So I looked thru the gallery at SCS and had seen the sketch challenge 161 that I had not participated in yet. Now, I'm not sure that this is just like the sketch, it may look a little different ~ but it's my try.

I took a piece of Orchid Oppulence for the base card. I layered it with that polka dot paper. For the sketch card I added a piece of purple polka dotted paper that I sponged and then layered the last panel that was Gable Green with a piece of DP that I received in a RAK. (I would really like to have all my paper sorted - but 1/2 of it I don't know who it's made by?!)

I hope that these cards inspire you to come up with something creative! I'd love to see!

Gabby's One of a Kind

Yes, I said Gabby's one of a kind ~ but not made by Gabby, just sent to Gabby!

My dear friends birthday is on the 2nd and I made this card to send to her. I used my new set One of a Kind.

The base card is Chocolate Chip. Is this a new fad or am I just seeing a lot of Browns lately?

I layered it with paper from my Creating Keepsakes slab (that I scored on from BIG LOTS! It was only $6.00!!!) and placed a HUGE flower from Heidi Swapp that I sponged on Rose Red ink on to. I first punched a scallop circle with my Marvy Giga Scallop punch and used the colozzle to make the circle with out of the dotted paper.

I stamped the flower from One of a Kind 3 times with Rose Red ink all on different paper from the slab. I carefully cut each layer and placed one on top of the other with pop dots. I then placed that on top of the flower. In the middle of the flower I took a button (she loves buttons!) and threaded some waxy floss thru it then glued it to the center of the flowers.

I stamped the saying with Chocolate Chip and Rose Red ink on to some scraps. I placed that in the lower right corner. It was fairly easy to make, it just involved a bit of cutting.

What I didn't tell you was I messed up on the cutting and actually had made 2 other flowers that I cut out and just did not like. But all in all once I was done I knew that she'd like it. Hope you do too!
