Happy Retirement

The other day Danielle asked me to make a card for a lady at her work who was retiring.  She had been there for 18 years!  WoW ~ I could not imagine that!

So here is the card that I came up with.  I'm sorry for the photos - it was getting late by the time I finished and of course my camera had a mind of it's own that evening. 

The base card is Barely Banana that I layered with some Soft Sky and DP by Prisma.  I stamped the images from Roses in Winter and I do not remember all the colors I used.  Barely Banana, So Saffron, Pink Passion, Regal Rose, Bashful Blue and Mint Melody.  Those I do remember.  And I know that when I use this set I sometimes stamp the image off on scratch paper then on to the card to give it a little more subtle look.

The leaves are from SU!  It is the Little Leaves Sizzlets Die.  I use that one a lot.  I punched out the flowers with some Sizzlits dies in various sizes and "distressed" them.  Basically I sponged some ink around them and on the back - since the paper was only one sided - and I crumpled them up.  After I crumpled them (that's my technical term.  he he he....) I opened them up, but not all the way, and stacked them on top of each other.  I stacked them kind of askew and then punched a hole in the middle just with my paper piercer and attached them all with a crystal brad.  That was it, all done.  I adhered them to the card with with the big fat glue dots that SU! used to have - I'm going to miss those.

Sorry for this picture, it's fuzzy - but you get the idea.  It is a little time consuming to make these flowers but they just turn out so pretty.

Roses in Fall??!

First let me say that I just did an update in blogger so I'm not sure how this post will look ~ we will find out together...

Here is another card that I would like to show you.  I made this with the Roses in Winter set.  It is another one of my favorites that I seem to go back to when I feel I've lost my mojo.  I used the SCS sketch SC239 for this card. 

The base card is Pink Pirouette that I layered with Pixie Pink, Chocolate Chip and some Candy Lane DP. I stamped the images from Roses in Winter with random colors on the image panel and layered that on to a piece of Chocolate Chip that I used my Martha punch on. I tied a some pink polka dot ribbon on it before adhering it to the card.

I love the sketches on Splitcoast.  I look forward to them each week.  So I hope this inspires you today ~ I'll try to be back later but no promises.

Woo-Hoo!!

It's Friday and a long weekend! Can you believe it's already Labor Day weekend? My goodness, where the heck does the time go? I'm fine with it~because it means it's almost Fall. My absolute favorite time of year. The weatherman said the other day that the Fall leaves will be staying on the trees a little longer this year because we had more rain. I'm so excited!! I might have to make an album just of Fall and all it's wonderful colors.

I'm sorry that I was not around yesterday ~ I hate it when I don't post. I feel like I may lose followers or people will not stop by if they don't see what I've been up to. Betty stopped by and we went to lunch and made a few things. So, I hope that what you see today makes up for it Ü
I'm still up to calendars. I make sure that I have a calendar everywhere I sit. So here's another one that I made. It's a basic CD calendar. To make it stand upright you just take the cover off and turn it around and attach it back to the case. It stays open all the time that way.

These calendars are made with the Roses in Winter set. One of my old stand by's that I seem to go to a lot! I cut the cs to fit the lid, stamped the images in, added a piece of vellum over the top and secured it with eyelets and ribbon. Super simple and easy peasy! The calendars came from skybluepink.com ~ and if you've never been there to shop please go! They have so many little things really cheap!

This one I used shades of blues with the base of Pacific Point.

This one is in made in shades of pink, with a Pixie Pink base.

This one I made with shades of purples with a base of Perfect Plum.

I used my crop a dile, eyelets, ribbon and light vellum.

Roses in Fall?

No silly, Roses in Winter.

This is one of my all time favorite set's that SU! has ever made. I love the versatility of this set. And yes, pink and brown being my favorite colors it was perfect for this card.
I used my watercolor crayons and watercolor paper for this card. The base card is Chocolate Chip and I layered it with Pink Pirouette. First I used my CB and border folders from Just my Type and added the squiggle at the far right of the card. I then tore the Pink Pirouette and watercolor papers so you could see the embossed border. I colored the stamps themselves with my crayons and spritzed them with water then stamped the image onto the paper. Once that was done I stamped the sentiment with Rose Red ink at the lower right of the paper. I also saved the torn off pink piece to add to the inside with a white piece of cs.

Here is an up close of the image. I think that it is really delicate looking.

I made another "wallet box" to package these up with. The envelopes are also stamped using the same stamps and technique so they match.

I thought that these were nice all boxed up together. They'd make a nice gift.

A Rosey Thank You!

First of all I would like to say Thank You to a special person (Gabby) once again for this wonderful set! I had my eye on it for a long time and she sent it to me! Everytime I use it (which is often) I thank her! Gabby, your the most awesome-est!!!!

Ok, that said ~ on to the details.

I needed to make another thank you card for my SIL and I thought that this set would make a nice one. She's been having some troubles lately, and when she gets a card she leaves it out to look at for a while. I thought that this might cheer her up when she looks at it.

I first stamped the Certainly Celery CS with my Autumn Leaves Swirls set. I bought that at Walmart for something like $8.00 and my LSS has it for $15.00! I caught the deal.... anyway ~ Then I stamped the images of Roses in Winter with Pretty in Pink, Positively Pink, Rose Red, Almost Amethyst, Pale Plum, Perfect Plum, Certainly Celery, Mellow Moss and Barely Bananna. Ok, you all have that? There will be a quiz on it later :-)

I added a length of ribbon behind that and adhered it to a panel of Purely Pomegranate that I paper pierced and all done!! It was a fast and simple card, but I like how elegant the Roses in Winter set is.
