Woo-Hoo It's Friday!

It's Friday everyone!! Just one short weekend away from Danielle going back to school for her last year. Well last year in high school. Just 3 more sleeps until I don't hear "I'm bored" for a while. But yes, 3 more sleeps til we trade "I'm bored" for "I don't have anything to wear" or "I hate my hair"or "so and so this, so and so that"... Is it just me or are the kids a little more dramatic than we were?

But then again it's one short year left of friend's sleep overs, school dances, the football and basketball games, school pictures, prom... My list goes on. Where has the time gone? I'm not old enough to have a teenage high school senior, am I?

Enough of that ~ I'm getting weepy eyed. Are you ready for a sketch?

This sketch is courtesy of Priscilla and it's the Midnight Madness Week 13 sketch. Now, if you've not gone there you must. Not only is there SO MUCH inspiration, there is some yummy candy!! Go there quickly, but come back here to finish the post.
This was a fun sketch to work with. I think that I could of done more with it but I felt it was ok with all the stickles and swirls. Here is my version:
I used The Angel Company set Butterfly Swirls and stamped it in Ballet Blue ink. The base card is Pacific Point that I layered wit Baja Breeze and So Saffron. I used my 1 1/4" and 1" square punches to complete the background. I stamped the butterfly with Bordering Blue ink and colored the swirls on his wings with my prisma pencils then I cut that piece and layered it on to the So Saffron before placing it on the card. I then added stickles to the wings to finish it off. I did not want to add too much, then it would be too busy.
That's what I've got for you now. Stop by later for another card I've made.

Ok, first I shed a tear for you, because I have been there when my oldest is where yours is now. He is now in the Navy heading out to sea in a few days. On the other side of that, I also have an 8 year old and 12 and 13 year old too, so I don't have the empty nest syndrome hovering over me yet, but it certainly is sad to see that first one go.

Now onto your card. I think it is just beautiful the way it is. You are right. The sparkle and swirls are just enough to make this card beautiful. The colors are so fresh and lovely too. Thank you so much for joining us in the fun at the MMSC this week. We love having you. Hope to see you again next week.

I love this card, the sparkle, the color and of course the butterflies. I have had an empty nest for about 25 years and I LOVE it, my life is my own I can do what I want to do. I found when they went off to college I missed them for the first 3 months, but when they came home for Thanksgiving I couldn't wait for them to leave again. So peaceful and serene in my home now. It's natural to miss them but it is also natural to let them go so you can enjoy the rest of your life. When the grandchildren get here then you will want them back more often, but will still be happy to see them leave. The Midnight Madness Design Team wants to thank you for entering your lovely card in our challenge.

I love your card - I love butterflies!

I don't think teenagers are any more dramatic than we were - it just seems that way because now we are on the receiving end of the rebelliousness and the dramatics!

If its any consolation to you, my DD and I were at loggerheads for a lot of her pre-teen and teenage years. After she moved out to go to university, we got along a lot better and now I consider her as not only a fantastic daughter but a friend as well. I've heard other mothers say the same thing.
